Faculty Bio
Dr. Burns received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Tulane University. After graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for three years as an infantry oficer, including one tour of duty in Viet Nam. After returning from Viet Nam, he matriculated into the University of California at Santa Barbara and in two years received a second Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. He received a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine and followed by completing a two year podiatric surgery residency. He is Board Certified in Podiatric Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He has been a continuous faculty member of CCPM and CSPM, since finishing his residency, and is a Professor in the Department of Podiatric Surgery. He served as the Academic Dean of CSPM from 2000-2008. He is the Chief of Podiatry at Alameda County Medical Center
