SMC Welcomes Dr. Abby Heydman

Samuel Merritt College and its Board of Regents welcomes back Abby Heydman who has been recently appointed Interim President through January 2008. Dr. Heydman is sitting in the Office of the President (OP) while President Sharon Diaz is on sabbatical, and Dr. Scot Foster returns from medical leave.

Dr. Heydman worked at the College beginning 1978, where one of her major contributions was conducting the feasibility study of the intercollegiate joint-nursing degree with St. Mary's College. As Academic Vice President and Provost through 2001, Dr. Heydman transitioned as Special Assistant to the President until 2003. Since that time, she has been involved in a number of special consultations for SMC and other institutions of higher education. Dr. Heydman was awarded Professor Emeritus of the College in 2004.
