Why did you choose SMU?
I wanted a small intimate school that I could develop a relationship with faculty and control my learning experience.
What has been your favorite class or experience?
My favorite experience has been clinical for FNP. It has been so much fun to combine everything I have learned from my pre-licensure and blend this knowledge for my future career.
What's your favorite thing to do when you are not in class or studying?
I don’t have a single favorite thing. The world is my oyster and I love many things.
We understand that you are a Student Body Association executive team member and a SAC student leader. Can you tell us a little bit about your duties in these roles?
As the secretary of the Student Body Association, I am in charge of any correspondence that comes into the SBA inbox. I help develop agendas, take notes at meetings, and assist with any student fund requests. As a SAC student leader, I am proposing new ideas to form a closer-knit campus between ABSN, ELMSN-CM, and ELMSN-FNP. As a student rep, my duties are to take student suggestions, feedback, and ideas back to the SBA team. I am also a Student Representative for the 2014 FNP class and I am currently spearheading the fundraising for the first ever Sacramento FNP White Coat Ceremony.
What is one thing you'd like to tell a new student just entering your program?
It’s okay. CHILL OUT! Things are going to happen that are out of your control and you need to develop the skills to deal, to learn, and to move on with the situation.
