Skype for Business On-Premise to Skype for Business Online Migration Saving Contacts

On June 21st, SMU will decommission the Lync 2010 infrastructure and migrate to Skype for Business Online. This is in some ways similar to the recent migration of On-premise Exchange 2010 to O365 for Faculty and Staff.

This migration will allow use of new features such as the ability see contact presence / status on mobile devices and within Office 365 applications.  These improvements and others to be announced require this migration.

On-Prem Skype contacts are not integrated with the Outlook / Office 365 address book and will need to be recreated in your Skype contacts list post migration.

The steps below are provided as a suggestion if you want to preserve the information you currently have for recreation post migration.

How to do screen shots prior to Skype for Business Online Migration

Screen Capture – Skype Contacts – Windows 7

  • Resize Window:

Start by resizing your Skype window to see all of the contacts. This can be done by moving the mouse over the lower right corner and dragging and resizing the Skype window until you see the entire list of contacts and no longer need to scroll down to view contacts.
