Connecting to SMU secure VPN from outside Samuel Merritt University  (VPN access from home or offsite)

Windows 7

Ensure you have connection to the internet

Navigate to https://sslvpn.samuelmerritt.edu

You will receive a notification, click "I understand the risks"

Click Add Exception

Click 'Confirm Security Exception' to accept the certificate

At the Anyconnect login screen,

Use the drop down menu to select the appropriate connection

 Enter your SMU credentials to login

Click 'Continue' to complete the connection

The Secure VPN Client will now attempt to download and install on your computer

Choose 'Yes' to accept the certificate

Click 'Run' to begin installing the application

Click 'Yes' to accept the certificate

Click 'Yes' to allow the application to install

Cisco Anyconnect will appear in the systray on your computer

Type sslvpn.samuelmerritt.edu and press 'Connect'

Click 'Accept' to accept the certificate

The Anyconnect window will appear

1. Under Group, use the dropdown menu to select the appropriate connection
2. Complete the sign in with your SMU credentials

Click 'Accept' to connect

Click 'Yes' to accept the certificate

You are now connected

To add the AnyConnect app to your taskbar, Click Start and right-click on the application, then Choose 'Pin to taskbar'
