Job Summary:

An instructor is a regular faculty member in an academic department who is responsible for guiding the learning of students in classrooms and/or clinical settings. A faculty member is assigned to teach the courses for which they are qualified by education, certification, and professional experience. Instructional duties include developing courses and curricula, didactic and clinical teaching, and evaluating students and courses. Related duties include academic advising of students, supervision of independent study projects, maintaining weekly office hours, attending meetings, serving on committees, and participation in special College events and ceremonies.

Education and/or Experience:

*A minimum of a master’s degree in field or in a specialty area appropriate to area of teaching responsibility.
*Required to have coursework in curriculum development and teaching/learning.
*Prior teaching experience in a staff development position or college program strongly preferred.
Clinical expertise in the clinical specialty area of teaching assignment.

Skills and Abilities:

*Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
*Excellent interpersonal relationships.
*Ability to calculates exam scores and grades.
*Ability to calculates drug dosages accurately in the clinical lab setting (where applicable to clinical role).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Current licensure to practice in professional field is required for some positions. Other specialized certification or license may be required depending on the nature of the instructional assignment.

The employee must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through verbal and written communication.
