Job Summary:

Oversees all community health clinical rotations at assigned campus or campuses. Secures clinical placements, forms and maintains relationships with community leaders, orients and supports adjunct faculty, teaches clinical sections, and supervises students. Collaborates with community leaders and the RN-BSN Design Team to fulfill academic service learning objectives. Identifies and organizes student experiences that fulfill the mission and extend the outreach of agency programs designed to keep communities healthy and safe. Engages students in the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of community health needs. Organizes students to strengthen and extend community outreach, community-based services, and community-level care. Supports the Community Health Course Manager and Faculty. Ensures that all clinical evaluations are completed. Manages confidential student files in compliance with SMU and partnering clinical facilities. Evaluates clinical experiences from the perspective of students, faculty, and clinical partners at the completion of every term. Communicates areas for improvement to design team. Completes other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience:
• Graduate degree in nursing, public health or equivalent field
• Three years experience administering complex programs or projects.
• Three years experience in public health, hospice, home care, or community health.
• Self-starter with experience in team building, leadership development, quality improvement initiatives, or moving a product to scale preferred.


Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Functions effectively as a member of a team.
• Articulates clear understanding of faculty and student roles in all interactions.
• Accesses and applies relevant policy and procedures.
• Works independently and seeks clarification when necessary.
• Proficient with instructional technology and Microsoft Office applications.
• Up to 50% travel required to clinical sites and SMU campuses. Reliable transportation necessary.
