Job Summary:

The assistant chair will assist the program chair in administering the RN to BSN Program adhering to the mission, vision, and goals of the program, school of nursing, and the university, accreditation and BRN requirements, and other relevant requirements and standards.

A regular faculty is expected to devote 70% of his/her time (1320 workload hours) to teaching and the remainder to scholarship and service. This position receives 660 hours (50%) release from teaching for the administrative role.

The position reports to the program chair and may supervise student workers, as necessary.

•Substantial computer and technology skill sufficient to meet teaching and administrative responsibilities

Education and/or Experience:

•Earned doctoral degree in nursing or equivalent
•Unencumbered registered nurse license in California or license eligible
•At least three years’ full-time teaching experience in nursing higher education.
•At least three years’ progressive experience in administration/management in masters or higher degree nursing programs and/or clinical settings, preferred

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

•Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word in person or on the telephone.
•Ability to receive detailed information through verbal and written communication.
•Ability to read and write clear documents.
•Ability to travel to campuses, clinical sites and professional meetings
•Work variable hours and days, as program needs indicate
