The School of Pharmacy at Samuel Merritt University invites applications for leader¬ship positions in a newly developing Pharm D Program, which will admit its first class of students in the Fall of 2015. These positions provide a singular opportunity for creative leadership in the development of a new curriculum that will be student-centered, involve active learning strategies, and that is designed to meet contemporary and future needs for clinically competent pharmacists.

All candidates should possess the designated academic credentials; have academic and administrative experience in higher education, excellent interpersonal and group communication skills; and demonstrated evidence of or potential for aca¬demic leadership. Positions are full-time, 12-month appointments with some teaching responsibilities.

Job Summary:
Responsible for leadership in the development and management of pharmacy curricula, program quality assurance, oversight of the accreditation processes, faculty recruitment and development activities, and teaching in an area of expertise. Leadership experience in program planning and curriculum development is required along with seven or more years of academic experience and a record of accomplishment in scholarship sufficient for appointment to the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated academic leadership skills as evidenced by previous academic leadership roles and education. In depth knowledge of current pharmacy curricula and accreditation criteria and policies. Demonstrated teaching ability and scholarship in a field of pharmacy expertise as evidenced by previous teaching evaluations and record of scholarly accomplishments sufficient for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Essential knowledge for the position includes: curriculum and instructional design, active learning strategies, faculty development, curricular pathways and dual degrees, academic scheduling, continuing pharmacy education, and accreditation policies and standards.
Education and/or Experience:
A Pharm D or PhD degree is the minimum academic credential required. In addition, an advanced degree in education is strongly desired
