Obtaining Articles
  1. Check Print & Electronic Journals to see if the Graziano Library has the journal title and date of the article you need.
  2. If the journal title and date are available as full-text, you can view the article online and print it.
  3. If the article is not available online but is available in print at the Graziano Library, complete the Request an Article from the Oakland Campus Library form.
  4. If the article is not at the Graziano Library, complete the Request an Article from a Non-SMU Library form. Please make sure to indicate the campus where you are a student. You will normally receive the article within 2 to 5 business days. There is a $2 charge for each article obtained from another library.
  5. Articles will be emailed as PDF attachments to the email address you specify in your request.

Borrowing Books
  1. Search for the book in the library's catalog.
  2. If you find the book there, refer to the holdings information to see if your campus library has a copy available.
  3. If your campus doesn't have a copy but the Oakland campus does, ask your librarian or the Oakland library staff to request the book for you. The book will be sent by daily intercampus pouch in 2-3 days; you may keep the book for two weeks.
  4. If the library does not have a copy of the book, complete the Request a Book from a Non-SMU Library form. Please make sure to indicate the campus where you are a student. You will be notified via email when the book arrives in the library, normally within 2 weeks after making your request. A $2 charge will be added to your library account for each book requested.
  5. When you are notified that the book has arrived, you may pick it up from:
Sacramento: Becky Boyd, 2710N Gateway Oaks Drive #360
San Francisco: Debbie Sommer (or the administrative assistant), 555 San Jose Avenue #110
San Mateo: Karin Kasper, 1720 S. Amphlett Boulevard #300
