
Post-Professional Case Management Master of Science in Nursing Track
The purpose of this track is to prepare experienced nurses with advanced theory and practice in a systematic case management approach to the delivery of health care to diverse patient populations. Case management emphasizes collaborative methods of coordination, continuity, and quality of care within a cost-sensitive perspective. Emphasis will be placed on critical-thinking and strong planning and decision-making skills needed to recognize and respond to the constant changes in the health care delivery system.
The program can be completed in 2 calendar years (5 semesters) for full-time students. Students may also elect to attend on a part-time (3 units/semester) basis. The Post Professional track is available at our Oakland campus, Sacramento Regional Center and also has a completely On-Line option
Students completing the pre-licensure component will:
- Value the inherent dignity and worth of individuals as unique and holistic beings.
- Integrate theory and knowledge from nursing, the physical and behavioral sciences, and humanities in making nursing judgments and decisions.
- Use the nursing process to provide nursing care for individuals, groups, families and communities.
- Create a therapeutic and humanistic environment which facilitates promotion, maintenance and restoration of health for culturally diverse individuals of all ages.
- Interpret research findings for application to nursing practice for individuals in a variety of health care settings.
- Assume professional responsibility and accountability for nursing practice within legal and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with other health professionals and the community to promote the delivery of quality health care services.

- Demonstrate commitment to professional values through continuing education, involvement in professional organizations and community services.
- Acts as an advocate for health care rights for individuals, groups, families and communities.
- Facilitate change in meeting present and future societal health needs through the use of leadership skills and knowledge of the political system.
