Nurses who are doctors - More are earning the doctor of nursing practice degree

The number of advanced practice nurses enrolling in Doctor of Nursing Practice programs is growing rapidly, from 70 in 2002 to more than 5,000 last year. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing estimates that about 72% of schools that train advanced practice nurses already offer DNPs or plan to do so.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

 

Doctor of nursing degree could help NPs promote the profession

Pursuing the doctor of nursing practice degree could allow nurse practitioners to promote the nursing profession and effectively manage the complex problems in today's health care system.
