FAQ

Q: What are the minimum scores required on the NET Examination for BSN applicants?

A: Math percentage score of 72; Reading percentage score of 66; Composite percentage score of 69 or higher. Please note that minimum scores are subject to change.

 

Q: What are the minimum scores required on the NET Examination for ABSN and ELMSN applicants?

A: Math score of 60 or higher and a Scientific Reading score of 70 or higher. Please note that minimum scores are suject to change.

Q: Do I need to purchase the study guide to prepare myself for the examination?

A: The examination is a test of your general math knowledge and reading comprehension skills. We highly recommend usage of the study guide to better prepare you for the examination.

Q: How long is the test?

A: Each section of the test is timed; therefore, the test is taken over a four hour time period.

Q: How many times may I take the NET examination?

A: You may take the examination a maximum of two (2) times

Q: How long will you retain my NET scores?

A: We maintain an electronic record of all students who have taken the NET examination; therefore there is no expiration date for test scores.

Q: Will you accept the TEAS test in place of the NET examination?

A. Unfortunately, no. All students must take the NET examination.

Q: Do I have to take the NET at Samuel Merritt on the dates designated below?

A: No. The test dates at Samuel Merritt College are offered for your convenience. Single testers do have the following 2 options:

  1. Taking a paper and pencil exam using a private proctor (where you may set up your own date and time to take the exam), however, proctoring fee vary.  There is also an admin. fee of over $50 to cover materials and scoring.  We recommend that you locate a proctor through the testing & assessment center of an educational institution near you (e.g. community college, state college or university).
  2. Taking the exam online at a Pearson VUE site (there are 213 locations in the U.S.).  Simply go to http://eriworld.com/net and follow the instructions to register for a NET test at a Pearson VUE location.  The cost will be in excess of $100.
