Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (ABSMC) Pre-Employment Requirements

ALL Samuel Merritt University faculty must meet the pre-employment requirements of our Sutter Health co-affiliate, Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (ABSMC).  This includes a background check, a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Approximately 30-45 days prior to the start of your course, ABSMC Human Resources Department will contact you to assist in fulfilling pre-employment requirements, signing your agreement (called "Faculty Instructional Assignment" or "FIA") and completing new hire paperwork.  This will require you to attend one to two appointments with the ABSMC HR Department.  When ABSMC HR contacts you, please make every effort to respond promptly and attend appointments as scheduled.  Failure to do so may significantly delay your hire.

If the hiring process is not complete by your start date, ABSMC will need to arrange for you to be paid through an outside payroll service until new hire processing is complete.  ABSMC HR will notify you of details should this be necessary.
