Explain Pain & The Brain - Seminar by G. Lorimer Moseley

This seminar provides an overview of current thought in pain sciences, with an emphasis on key paradigms and the biological principles and data on which they are based. The seminar draws on knowledge from the basic and clinical sciences and evidence from clinical trials to provide a clear idea of when and where explaining pain can improve the efficacy of treatment.

DPT & DPM Journal Club

Journal Club will meet June 3 at 12:15 pm in L810 and is sponsored by the DPT students.  The article being discussed is EFFECT OF MANUAL THERAPY AND STRETCHING ON NECK MUSCLE STRENGTH AND MOBILITY IN CHRONIC NECK PAIN by Arja Häkkinen et al. With limited treatment times becoming the norm, it is important to maximize our exercise interventions. This presentation explores the different types of exercise; principles of resistance and biomechanics related specifically to the knee and shoulder joints; principles of plyometrics with specific exercise recommendations for core strengthening; and finally, specific exercise and aerobic training recommendations for youth, middle aged and elderly individuals.
