Pacific University will add a touch of class to it's men's basketball season opener Tues., Nov. 17, as Miss Oregon 2009, C.C. Barber, will perform during halftime at the Pacific Athletic Center.

The reigning Miss Oregon, Barber will perform a lyrical dance routine of the Boxers' contest against Portland Bible.  Tip-off for the game is 7 p.m.  The dance routine is the same one that Barber is planning to perform at next year's Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas, which takes place on Jan. 30, 2010.  Barber will be available for autographs prior to the game and will also conduct a photo opportunity with members of the Pacific men's basketball team.

Barber is a graduate of Scappoose High School and is the cousin of Pacific men's basketball players Ross Bartlett (Sr., St. Helens, Ore.) and Carson Bartlett (So., St. Helens, Ore.).  Crowned Miss Oregon on July 11, Barber is working on completing her degree in nursing at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, Calif., with hopes of specializing in the field of neonatology.

Through her Miss Oregon duties, Barber is working with the Friends of the Children organization to spread awareness of the revolutionary and preventative mentoring program designed for the nation's highest-risk youth.

An official state organization of the Miss America program, the Miss Oregon Organization is a volunteer-based organization that prides itself on empowering Oregon's women to achieve their person and professional goals, while providing a forum in which to express their opinion, talent and intelligence.  In the last 20 years, the Miss Oregon Organization has offered over $1.5 million in cash and in-kind tuition scholarships to young ladies who participate as contestants in the program.
