DynaMed Trial [November 2008]

DynaMed is a point-of-care reference resource designed to provide doctors and medical researchers with the best available evidence to support clinical decision-making.
The library is considering subscribing to DynaMed as a replacement for UpToDate. While UpToDate is accessible only in the library and on one PC only, DynaMed would be available from any PC, on and off campus, and on PDAs.
You can try out DynaMed until December 12 by browsing to http://search.ebscohost.com [2] and clicking on "DynaMed Trial." If you're off campus, you'll be prompted to log in--enter the username and password contained in the email you received from the library announcing the DynaMed trial.
Please let us know [3] what you think of DynaMed.

New PubMed Features [October 2008]
  • My Bibliography

If you save your searches (and create alerts) in PubMed using My NCBI – it now has a new feature called My Bibliography. This is where you can store all of your own articles that are indexed by PubMed. This trifold brochure [4] from the National Library of Medicine provides more details and so does this Latitudes article [5] from the National Network of Medical Libraries Pacific Southwest Region.

  • Converter

NCBI has created a converter [6] that will allow users to input a PubMed (PMID) ID number when you only have the PubMed Central ID (PMCID) number. You can also enter a PMCID and get its associated PMID.
New on the Library Website [October 2008]
  • Subject Guides

Four subject guides [7] have been added to the library's website:
    • Images
    • Grants
    • Research Instruments
    • History of Nursing

  • Ask Us Tell Us

A button inscribed "Ask Us Tell Us" has been added to the library's home page [8]. Clicking this button will take you to a form [9] enabling you to ask a question, make a suggestion, or leave a comment for the library staff.
Check Out Our Bicycle Tire Pump [October 2008]

The library has a bicycle tire pump available at the circulation desk for two-hour checkout.
