Samuel Merritt University is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its entire community, including issues of sexual violence. To assist in these efforts the Office of Enrollment & Student Services and the SMU Health & Counseling Center have formed a Sexual Assault & Violence Prevention Resource Guide for our campus community. The purpose of this guide is to promote comprehensive prevention, education, advocacy and response guidelines around issues of sexual violence, including sexual assault/rape, domestic violence, relationship abuse and stalking crimes, as well as to help build a coordinated community awareness and response to these efforts.
We recognize that by coming together we are better able to provide compassionate and supportive treatment of survivors, their friends, and significant others, hold perpetrators accountable, foster collaborative relationships between campus and community systems, and create a culture where violence is not tolerated. We hope that you will engage in this dialogue with us to help further our collective understanding of these issues and work towards effective and compassionate solutions.
