Julia is originally a Bay Area native, growing up in nearby Alameda. She completed her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of San Francisco. After completing this she had the travel bug, so she moved to England where she lived for the next four years and she did a variety of jobs and a good deal of world wide travel. When she returned to California in 2005, she began working in the healthcare field as she always knew medicine was her ultimate career path. In 2010 she graduated from the SMU Master Physician Assistant program. From 2010-2015 she worked in a private endocrinology practice in Lafayette. In 2015, she made the transition to her ultimate goal as a health care provider, and began working in a family practice office in Hayward.
In 2012 she was reunited with SMU when she joined the faculty. She works closely with Tana Summers as an Assistant Academic Coordinator and teaches several different courses throughout the didactic program. In 2014 she expanded her role at SMU by also taking an assistant clinical coordinator position.
