Ora Bollinger is an Assistant Professor in the Program of Nurse Anesthesia (PNA).  Ora has been practicing anesthesia for 14 years in diverse clinical settings.  After graduating from the PNA in 2003, she returned in 2005 as a guest lecturer  and member of the Oral Comprehensive Exam Committee. Ora also served as Regional Clinical Coordinator for the Sacramento Region. In 2013, Ora became faculty and has been committed to educating nurses in becoming highly skilled and compassionate anesthesia providers.  Her continued role as an educator demonstrates her dedication and passion in ensuring that future generations of nurse anesthetists meet the high standards that the profession requires and patients deserve.

N662- Advanced Principles of Anesthesia II 

This course is an integrated and comprehensive study of unique physiologic and pathologic states of primary body systems through the lifespan (neonate through geriatric patient population) related to the provision of anesthesia care to patients undergoing complex intracranial, extracranial, cardiovascular, spinal, transplant procedures.  The course includes a comprehensive study of unique physiologic and pathologic states affecting anesthesia care to the patient with a traumatic injury, and neuromuscular disease.  Areas of focuses include emphasis on producing culturally competent care providers, the anesthesia management of multisystem disease states and management of their complications.

 

N628 and N629- Senior Synthesis

All students in the Program of Nurse Anesthesia are required to complete all core MSN courses and a special synthesis project to satisfy the Synthesis requireement for a Master of Science in Nursing from SMU.  There are three components of the Senior Synthesis Project in the senior academic curriculum: 1) NURSG 627: the pharmacology comprehensive exams (PCE), 2) NURSG 628, the oral comprehensive exams; and 3) NURSG 629, the National Certification Examination (NCE) and Aneshtesia Crisis Resource Management (ACRM)  simulation sessions 1and 2. 

 

Clinical Anesthesia I-VI

Assist in supervision of experiences in clinical anesthetic management of ASA class I and VI patients involving all perioperative activities of general, regional and MAC cases. Case distribution and management will fulfill the requirements of the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs.  Provide advisement to students at regular intervals and as needed.

 

 

 

 

2013: Authored and designed a patient brochure for Postdural Puncture Headaches. This patient education tool was used as a template for other Kaiser OB departments in Northern California

2014-2016: Authored and distributed monthly OB Newsletter for anesthesia department

2009-2012: OB Lead/Lecturer and co-creator of a Kaiser Prenatal Class, "Anesthesia Options in Labor and Delivery"
