Faculty Bio
Tana Summers
MS, PA-C

Tana is originally from Portland, Oregon. She earned a BS from Santa Clara University and a MS from Baylor College of Medicine, where she completed her Physician Assistant training in 2001. She completed a medical Spanish immersion program on the border of Mexico working with underserved patients, and spent the first 6 years of her career working among poor Latino populations.
Tana began working at SMU as an adjunct faculty in the fall of 2005, and became a full time core member of the PA faculty in 2008. She is currently the Academic Coordinator of the PA Program. She also practices clinically part time in Family Pratice in Mill Valley, California.

My most rewarding teaching and clinical experiences have been those abroad, on medical trips to Peru, Dominican Republic, and Panama with students; watching students grow, sharing in their experiences, and providing care to those who truly need brings the teaching of medicine and the practice of medicine together in a very real way.
