About Me

I am happily married to my best friend and love of my life.  We have 6 children and 13 grandchildren.  I enjoy reading, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, traveling, and entertaining our grandchildren.

My nursing journey began in the emergency room, nearly 29 years ago.  I have worked in both large and small emergency rooms during my career.  I also have a passion for home health and hospice.  I currently own a busy primary care clinic in rural Oklahoma. I am a devoted preceptor and teacher.  Nothing excites me more than witnessing learning transpire!

Education

DNP, Family Nurse Practitioner, Oklahoma City University, 2014; MSN, Nursing Education, Oklahoma City University, 2011; BSN, Oklahoma City University, 2009; ADN, Bacone College, 1990.

Teaching Interests

I have taught a variety of Graduate Nursing courses.  I have a special interest in Academic Writing and APA Formatting.  I enjoy teaching all Family Nurse Practitioner foundation courses.

Scholarly Interests

As part of my DNP project, I developed a Theoretical Framework to assist primary care providers in improving spiritual care in the primary care setting.  I hope to develop the framework into a mid-range nursing theory.
