About Me

I grew up in North Carolina (Go Tarheels!) and lived there until I moved to Chicago in 2007 to complete my anesthesia training.  After residency, I joined a large private practice group in Chicago and provided anesthesia services for patients of all ages (my youngest patient was four days old and my oldest was 105 years old).  I moved to California in 2014, and joined the Nurse Anesthesia family here at SMU in 2015.  I feel incredibly blessed to be a CRNA, and make every effort to learn something new each and every day.  In an effort to support my profession, I recently served as Chair of the Program and Education Committee for the California Association of Nurse Anesthetists (CANA).

When not teaching, providing anesthesia, or working on my PhD, I enjoy spending time with my two fur babies, Brady and Colby.  I also enjoy traveling, experiencing new cultures, cooking, and photography.  If you are in the Nurse Anesthesia program at SMU, you will experience some of my cooking!

Education

After completing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, I spent five years working in both Burn/Trauma and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, and became interested in the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) profession at that point.  I completed my CRNA training in 2011, and have taught in three Nurse Anesthesia programs across the nation.  Additionally, I am currently enrolled in a Nursing Education PhD program to enhance my skills as an educator.  I anticipate defending my dissertation in late 2021 or early 2022.
