Programs and Courses Taught
Medical Physiology and Mechanisms of Disease I & II
I was born and raised in southern California and moved to the bay area in 1997. I currently live in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland and love the rich culture of this community. I have taught at SMU since 1999 when I gave the first ever lecture in the PA program. I deeply enjoy teaching in higher education, particularly in a medical field with students who truly want to learn. In 2009 I was one of the founders of our annual trips to Panama. This has been a life changing experience for myself and many students from SMU other schools. I hope to continue this work as soon as possible. Currently I work as a PA in Family Medicine. My personal interests are sports, particularly baseball and cycling, music, and spending time with my son.
I attended Occidental College in Eagle Rock, CA, earning a baccalaureate degree in Psychobiology. From Oxy, I went to UCLA and completed a doctorate in Neuroscience. After beginning my teaching career at SMU, I returned to school at Touro University of California in Vallejo to complete masters degrees in Physician Assistant and Public Health.
