About Me

It is my pleasure to lead and facilitate the learning of our Doctoral students, and Family Nurse Practitioner students here at Samuel Merritt University.  As the Assistant Director of the Graduate FNP program, Sacramento Campus, I have the honor of working with faculty, staff and students obtaining their degree and becoming Family Nurse Practitioners.

I have been a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse my entire career.  To encourage new Nurse Practitioners to join our profession, and to meet the needs of the underserved communities in our area is an honor.  As we face challenges of diversity, understanding of health disparities and culture, the role of the Advanced Practice Nurse (FNP) is needed now more than ever.  I am honored to facilitate the learning of our future nurse leaders.

Education

Dr. Rebecca Rogers is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, who obtained her Doctorate of Nursing from Samuel Merritt University.  She is a Duke University Fellow in Nursing Leadership (Inaugural Cohort) and prior to that, completed a Post Masters Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Phoenix, Sacramento CA campus.  She obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing prior to her FNP certification. She has been a Registered Nurse in the State of California since 1995, obtaining her Associate Degree in Nursing from San Joaquin Delta College, Stockton CA.

Teaching Interests

I am focused on chronic conditions management as well as the use of Complementary and Alternative therapies and modalities.  As our population ages, the prevention of chronic disease, along with the use of complementary therapies may assist our healthcare crisis, as we focus on wellness, wholeness of the individual, mind/body/spirit health, care in our communities and the understanding of the modalities of therapies that our population are using.
