Lorraine Petti is Assistant Professor in Samuel Merritt University' s (SMU) Department of Physician Assistant (PA). A graduate of Cornell University (1980) and Albany Medical College Physician Assistant Program (1988), Lorraine received her master' s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska in 1999. She joined the SMU PA Program in 1999 as clinical coordinator and since that time has served in every position in the department, including program director from 2004 to 2008.

Lorraine has more than 20 years of clinical experience in emergency medicine and is currently on staff at the UCSF Emergency Department as Senior Physician Assistant. She has a keen interest in the implementation and integration of simulation into all phases of health science didactic and clinical curricula. She enthusiastically joined the HSSC faculty in August 2009 and since then has expanded the use of classroom simulation into several clinical medicine courses in the PA Department. She plans to continue expanding her own knowledge of simulation programming so that she may assist faculty at SMU, with the goal of multidisciplinary integration of simulation into all academic departments at the University.
