Presidential Inauguration

Ching-Hua Wang, MD, PhD, will be inaugurated as the second president in Samuel Merritt University’s 111-year history and the first female native Chinese university president in the U.S. on April 7.

Out of concern for the health and safety of our University community and visitors, and following the California Department of Public Health guidelines for colleges and universities, I have decided that our Inauguration events, planned for March 31 through April 7, are postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. At this point, we have no reported cases of COVID-19 among our students, faculty, or staff.

At a suitable time in the future, we will revisit the possibility of rescheduling some of the Inauguration events. At this time, though, we are focused on the health and well-being of our community.
