According to podiatrist Dr. Ana Urukalo of the Austin Diagnostic Clinic, the most common running injuries are of the overuse type. "Common conditions include plantar fasciitis, tendinitis, capsulitis, ligament injuries, sprains, and stress fractures," say Urukalo.
"Prevention is a mental attitude," says Urukalo. "It means not trying to do too much, too soon. Try to pace yourself, respecting the fact that some days are better than others." Urukalo recommends that runners invest in good running shoes.
