Spring Faculty Scholarship Symposium

14th Annual Spring Scholarship Symposium
: April 12, 2019
Where: Oakland campus (room TBD)

Every spring the Office of Academic Affairs and the Faculty Development Committee host a Faculty Scholarship Symposium to celebrate and honor faculty scholarly contributions featuring podium and poster presentations.  The symposium provides a forum for faculty to share and learn more about each other’s research. The Faculty Development Committee provides peer-review that allows faculty to receive feedback on their scholarship in a supportive environment.

The Faculty Scholarship Symposium features a variety of types of scholarship.

  • The Scholarship of Discovery
  • The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
  • The Scholarship of Application/Service
  • The Scholarship of Integration

The definitions of scholarship are in the Faculty Handbook

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning provides faculty a way to both deepen their teaching practice as well as their scholarship. The Office of Academic Affairs offers a unique grant that incentivizes faculty to experiment with new teaching modalities and tools through the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning: Improving Teaching with Technology Grants. Over 114 grants have been award since 2013. View the grant reports.
