We welcome you to visit Samuel Merritt University! The Admission Office offers individual academic counseling services as outlined below and several times a year special visit opportunties through our all-campus Preview Day or Open Houses at our Regional Centers.
Virtual Drop In Counseling Now Available!
Virtual drop in counseling is available Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (all programs except DPM) and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (DPM only). Click for more information on Virtual drop in counseling.
Individual Counseling AppointmentsWe would welcome the opportunity to meet with you personally and review your academic transcripts (unofficial copies are fine). That way you'll be sure you are taking the right courses at your community college or four-year college or university to meet our specific prerequisites. Usually these meetings last between 35 and 45 minutes. Counseling appointments are available on the Oakland campus Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Sacramento Counseling Appointments
If you live in the Sacramento area, we would be happy to meet with you for an individual counseling appointment at our Sacramento Regional Center. We generally have a counselor available to meet with prospective students several days a week between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Please call 510-869-6576 to set up an appointment in Sacramento.
San Francisco Counseling Appointments

Drop-In Counseling (Oakland only)
If you have a quick question or just need to know one or two things, drop-in counseling may be perfect for your busy schedule. No appointment is needed. Drop-in counseling is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. These are brief visits designed to provide you with some quick information. Drop-in counseling is not available during the weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's.
All Campus Preview Day (Oakland)
Preview Days are designed to give you program specific information and provide an excellent opportunity to meet faculty and current students. Admission and Financial Aid Counselors are available at Preview Day for general assistance. Preview Days are held several times a year on our Oakland campus. Open House events are scheduled at our Regional Centers in Sacramento, San Francisco and San Mateo as well.
