Beware of

Readmission Applicants

Ready to return to Samuel Merritt University? If you previously attended SMU and want to complete your degree, we’ll help you understand the readmission process and what you need to do next.

Returning to SMU

Returning to school is an important step. If you previously attended Samuel Merritt University and would like to complete your degree, you may be eligible to apply for readmission.

Readmission applicants must meet current admission requirements and submit all required materials at least 60 days before the start of the requested term. Because admission decisions are based on current program requirements, readmission is not guaranteed.

Step 1: Confirm Your Eligibility

Students may be eligible to apply for readmission if they:

  • Voluntarily withdrew from Samuel Merritt University
  • Meet current admission requirements
  • Have no outstanding tuition or fee balances

Students who were dismissed from a program are not eligible to apply for readmission to that same program.

Step 2: Prepare Your Application

Your readmission application should include:

  • Official transcripts for any academic work completed after leaving Samuel Merritt University
  • A personal statement explaining why you are seeking readmission and describing any changes in your circumstances that support your request

Print, complete, and mail applications to the Office of Admission.

Step 3: Review Current Program Requirements

Readmitted students must meet the current admission requirements for their program, including prerequisite coursework or prior healthcare experience when applicable.

Review your program's admission requirements before submitting your application.
