What they teach
I teach Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics, and Professional Development for Success in the Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) program at Samuel Merritt University.
Clinical practice area
My expertise is in immunology and infectious disease, with a particular focus on host-pathogen interactions. As a basic immunologist, I study how the immune system responds to infections and allergic disease and how these responses can contribute to protection or disease. My research has also included the design and testing of vaccines, which has led to a strong interest in vaccine education and community outreach. I am passionate about making immunology and vaccine science accessible and helping students and the broader community understand how the immune system protects us from disease.
Community involvement
I am an active member of several professional scientific societies, including ASM, AAAS, and AAI. I also lead a vaccine outreach program focused on providing accessible education about infectious diseases and vaccines, helping individuals and communities make informed health decisions.
