N164 Managing Care of Adults III

About Me

Upon graduating in 1990, I gained experience caring for individuals in the critical care setting with the following healthcare needs: medical, surgical, cardiac, trauma, neuro, and organ transplantation. In 1998, I transitioned into the Post-anesthesia Care Unit where I continue to care for a variety of surgical patients at UCSF Medical Center. Upon graduating with my Master's Degree in 2006, I joined Samuel Merritt University as an Assistant Professor. I have taught courses in Health Assessment, Synthesis, Preceptorship, and Medical-surgical Nursing. Since my specialty is in critical care, I currently teach Managing Care of Adults III which focuses on complex health issues addressed in the critical care setting.

When I am not practicing nursing, I enjoy hiking, golfing, ziplining, jet skiing, kayaking, reading, completing puzzles, and spending time with my husband and our two dogs. We reside in Marin County, but enjoy splitting our time between Lake Tahoe and Palm Springs.

Education

I achieved my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Florida State University in 1990. Upon graduation, I completed a training program in Critical Care nursing where I gained experience until 1998 when I transitioned into Post-anesthesia Care. In 1998, I completed a course in Legal Nurse Consulting and worked with law firms reviewing medical records for legal proceedings. In 2006, I achieved my Master of Science in Nursing degree at the University of California San Francisco and began teaching at Samuel Merritt University.
