Programs and Courses Taught
I have the good fortune to teach in all programs who participate in simulation
Jeanette Wong is the Director of the Samuel Merritt University (SMU) Health Sciences Simulation Center (HSSC) and is responsible for leading a team of highly competent Simulation Educators, Simulation Technology Specialist and administrative support staff to achieve the mission of the HSSC across three campuses. After spending over a decade as the HSSC’s Operation Manager, Jeanette appreciates the value of immersive learning, especially when it is purposefully integrated into programs, and enjoys working with faculty to ensure the experience is positive for the learners. She works closely with the Assistant Academic Vice President to strategically position the HSSC for future growth and expansion of simulation-based learning opportunities beyond the SMU community. One of her most recent accomplishments is working with the HSSC team to achieve Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSiH) Accreditation. In May, 2017, the HSSC received full SSiH Accreditation status in Teaching/Education and Research.
During Ms. Wong’s tenure at the HSSC she has been instrumental in working with community partners in a collaborative effort to integrate simulation into their clinical practice. A project reflecting her collaborative efforts is the Perinatal Patient Safety Project. This project has trained over 1,000 healthcare professionals in simulation-based team training and has demonstrated a positive impact on their practice.
