About Me

Joe was born and raised in San Francisco. He received his Bachelors Political Science from the University of California Davis before earning his accelerated BSN and MSN in Nurse Anesthesia from Samuel Merritt University. Joe is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Nevada Las Vegas with research interests in simulated ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia. Before transitioning into nurse anesthesia education, Joe was active in professional advocacy and was President of the California Association of Nurse Anesthetists in 2011-2012.  He joined the Program of Nurse Anesthesia faculty in 2013 and became Director in 2017. Joe maintains a clinical practice at the San Leandro Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, enjoys high-risk obstetrical anesthesia and regional anesthesia. In his spare time, he is an avid runner, coaches youth baseball and soccer, enjoys spending time with his high school sweetheart and their four children.
