What they teach
I teach throughout the nurse anesthesia curriculum, with a focus on anesthesia practice, simulation, clinical readiness, professional development, and preparation for the National Certification Examination. I also mentor students during clinical education and as they develop and complete their DNAP scholarly projects.
Clinical practice area
I am a practicing Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with The Permanente Medical Group, with extensive experience in adult and high-risk obstetrical anesthesia. Maintaining an active clinical practice keeps me connected to patient care and allows me to bring current, real-world anesthesia experiences into my teaching, mentorship, and program leadership.
Community involvement
I continue to practice clinically as a CRNA and remain engaged in professional service and advocacy. I have held numerous leadership roles with the California Association of Nurse Anesthetists, including serving as President. These experiences allow me to advocate for patients, our profession, and the next generation of CRNAs.I continue to practice clinically as a CRNA and remain engaged in professional service and advocacy. Notable affiliations
I practice as a CRNA with The Permanente Medical Group and remain professionally engaged with the California Association of Nurse Anesthetists and American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. These connections keep me involved in clinical practice, professional advocacy, and issues shaping nurse anesthesia.
Selected scholarly highlights
My scholarship focuses on improving how we educate and prepare future CRNAs. My doctoral research explored simulation-based learning for ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia. I also mentor DNAP scholarly projects that translate evidence into practice and contribute to work involving simulation, assessment, clinical readiness, and student success—all with the goal of strengthening anesthesia education and improving patient care.
