Clinical Instructor for Psychiatry, Sacramento Campus

About Me

My background is in Psychiatry, Public and Community Health, Ambulatory Care and Case Management.  I have been involved in policy development, clinical quality improvement initiatives, and clinical education.  My passion is in mental health and public health both within inpatient and community settings.

Education

I am a Sacramento State and SMU ABSN alumni with bachelors degrees in both Sociology and Nursing. I am testing for Board Certification as a PMHRN-BC.  I am passionate about education.  I foster a safe and exciting learning environment that encourages student empowerment and engagement.  I like to provide realistic and strategic approaches to adapting to the many life stages a person will experience on their journey from novice to seasoned nurse.

Scholarly Interests

I have many diverse interests as it relates to teaching, but my primary goal in this setting is to unveil the field of psychiatry to students and partake with them in a journey to finding their purpose and calling within the diverse field of nursing. I am excited to work with students to provide insight, tools, and an opportunity to see a bio-psycho-social perspective on how community, family, biology and socioeconomic structures affect human health and how they have the power to positively influence the lives of others through increasing their knowledge, participation and activism.
