About Me

I began my nursing career in the critical care units.  I really enjoyed cardiology and mentoring new graduates.  After several years, I returned to school to obtain my MSN degree. I taught at SMU for 15 years in the undergraduate nursing department. At the end of those years I decided to pursue my next professional goal of becoming an FNP.  So while teachng at SMU, I became an FNP student. I practiced for over 12 years as an nurse practitioner in primary care. I loved what i was doing but a part of me missed teaching. I am now able to combine my love of being an FNP and teacher in my current role as a clinical faculty in our faculty practice sites and teaching didactic courses.
I love to read, travel and spend time with my family.

Education

I graduated in 1981 with a BSN then in 1991 graduated from UCSF with an MSN. In 2005 graduated with a post masters from Samuel Merritt with an FNP degree.

Teaching Interests

I am very interested in preventative health, pediatrics and cardiology.
