About Me

Monica Bourke is a Master’s prepared Registered Nurse at Dignity Health in Sacramento, California. While most of her experience has been in the area of training and education, she has owned and operated two successful health care businesses and held management, marketing and consulting positions in nephrology, transfusion medicine, bloodbanking, biotech and home healthcare.  In the past, she worked as an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech Community College and taught Health Care Law and Ethics and Medical Terminology.

Currently, Monica is the Manager of Education Operations and directs the Continuing Medical Education provider unit for the division which includes strategy and program oversight.   She works closely with division leaders to align certified continuing education to quality, safety and other key initiatives.  Monica is also an Associate Professor at Samuel Merritt University and teaches Nursing Science and Leadership in the RN to BSN Program. 

Monica is frequently asked to consult with other continuing education providers throughout the nation on issues related to improving interprofessional collaborative practice and incorporating the patient/family voice into an organization’s continuing professional development program.  She is an active member of the Society for Academic CME and volunteers as a national surveyor for the Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education (JA) and for the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

Education

Past educational experience at Ivy Tech Community College teaching Medical Terminology, Health Care Law and Health Care Ethics.  Currently at Samuel Merritt University and has taught Nursing Science I, Nursing Science III and Leadership.
