About Me

I have been an occupational therapist since 1994 and have been teaching at Samuel Merritt University since 2007. I have practiced in adult physical disabilities and pediatrics. I am Board Certified in Pediatrics by the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Education

Doctor of Occupational Therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, 2005; Master of Science in Health Science from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, 2004; Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University, 1994

Teaching Interests

I am particularly interested in teaching in small-group, interactive courses such as the integrative seminars,  fieldwork, and capstone. I appreciate getting to know students well and guiding them through student-centered teaching/learning approaches. 

Scholarly Interests

My research interests include simulation-based learning, integrative seminars, fieldwork outcomes, and program evaluation of teaching innovations. I am also interested in early childhood health and physical development learning foundations and outcomes.

I am an application reviewer for the American Occupational Therapy Association's Board for Advanced and Specialty Certifications. I serve as a Community Advisory Group Member for the City of Alameda’s Planning, Building, and Transportation Department. I am the Go Green Committee Coordinator at Bay Farm School in Alameda and a Task Force Member of Alameda County’s Safe Routes to Schools Program.
