About Me

Dr. Surani Hayre-Kwan is the Vice President of Professional Practice & Ambulatory Patient Care for Sutter Health.  Her areas of responsibility encompass inter-professional practice and health system ambulatory growth, clinical education, fostering evidence-based practice, quality improvements, and the advancement of nurse and Advanced Practice Clinician professional practice.  She has 32 years of healthcare experience in ambulatory,  acute and academic settings. 
Dr. Hayre-Kwan has practiced as a Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner for 22 years at the Russian River Health Clinic in Guerneville, CA. She is an adjunct associate professor for the Department of Nursing at Samuel Merritt University.
She has been a member of the Association of California Nurse Leaders for 13 years and serves the organization on the co-chair on the Health Policy Committee.  Dr. Hayre-Kwan has a 24-year history with California Association for Nurse Practitioners serving in board positions for over 18 years at the state and local levels; as president, president-elect, conference chair and the health policy and practice committee. She served a term as the Northern California representative for the national NP organization, American Association for Nurse Practitioners.
Dr. Hayre-Kwan has been recognized as a Fellow in the American Association for Nurse Practitioners and in the American College of Health Care Executives.
She serves as a board member for several community-based non-profit organizations focused on community health and wellness.
