The Ethnic Health Institute (EHI), now an institute under the CCE, was co-founded in 1997 by Dr. Frank Staggers, Sr. EHI strives to be a national model for university and community-based partnerships that promote health equity for underserved communities of color. EHI works to prepare and support SMU students, staff, and faculty to serve diverse communities, impact health equity, and increase workforce diversity.
