Many of these systems require Sutter Health Username and Password . All SMU employees are issued a secondary login for accessing Sutter Health resources. Once you receive your Sutter Health login, please retain this information for future access. Do not share your login information with anyone. For assistance with your Sutter Health login, please contact the SMU Service Desk at 510.907.2555.

Lawson Employee Portal **

View or update your employee information from on campus. The Lawson ESS portal gives Sutter Health employees the ability to view and make changes to their personal and payroll information online.

All employees are able to:

  • View current benefit plan enrollments
  • View performance review history
  • View current eligible vacation and sick balances
  • View and update direct deposit accounts
  • View and update tax withholdings
  • View payment history, including year-to-date totals
  • Update home address and emergency contacts

Managers are able to:

  • View employee job details
  • View direct report hire dates
  • View employee emergency contact information
  • View employee leave balances

Purchase requestors/approvers are able to:

  • Submit purchase requisitions through RQC or OneSource
  • Check the status of a purchase requisition
  • Acquire purchase order information
  • Approve purchase requisition requests

Ascend **

Ascend is the name of the new electronic system employees will use to report business expenses and request reimbursement. Ascend will eliminate paper expense reports. To learn how to use Ascend, we recommend that you take the Ascend web-based training. (Internet Explorer or Firefox browser required).

By using the Ascend system, you can:

  • Create an electronic reimbursement request form
  • Take a picture of or scan receipts and upload them directly into the system
  • Electronically route expense reimbursement requests to your manager for approval. Once your manager signs off on the reimbursement request, Ascend automatically routes the form to Payroll, cutting down on turnaround time
  • View the status of your expense report

Note: Passwords are case sensitive and all special characters(' and -, etc) have been removed from the password.

SMU and Sutter Health System Policies

PolicyStat is Sutter Health’s digital platform for the creation, organization, management, and approval of affiliate and system-wide policies. All SMU institutional and departmental policies are housed within this platform. Employees may search and view University, Sutter Health System, and other affiliate policies through this portal. Policy Area Owners and Editors may also create, revise, and approve policies through this portal.

Sutter Select Well-Being Program **

Employee Wellness Program

You now have access to the Sutter Select Well-Being Program as part of your Sutter Select health plan. Read the Activities Guide for more information about the program. If you have a spouse or domestic partner on your plan, they also have access to the program and we encourage you to share this information.

Access Your Well-Being Portal

If your were not previously enrolled in a wellness program, you need to register on the Well-Being Portal to take advantage of this program.  Login using your Sutter Health user name and password.  Be sure to include '' at the end of your user name.  Multi-factor authentication required.

Your spouse or domestic partner (if applicable) also needs to register.  Follow access instructions at the Well-Being Portal.



Employee Purchase Card

The P-Card is a Bank of America credit card issued to Sutter Health in the employee’s name. Charges are billed directly to Sutter Health. Built-in restrictions help ensure that the employee uses it exclusively for approved business purchases within established spending limits.

Who Should Request a P-Card?

If your department purchases goods or services that fit one or more of these descriptions, we recommend a P-Card convenience and efficiency:

  • Routine administrative goods and services (lower-cost items)
  • Infrequent purchases currently requiring a purchase order or direct invoice
  • Purchases from suppliers that do not accept purchase orders or only accept credit cards

Employee Discounts

Employee Discounts through BenePlace are available to all Sutter Health employees. 
Use your Sutter Health email alias (Sutter Health username followed by "") to access this site.  You will need to define your own password for this site.

As a valued member of our Sutter Health family, you have access to special discounts on popular products and services, from cell phone service to family vacations. Is there a discount that you’d like to see offered, but we don’t see listed? There is a “nomination form” for additional discount ideas. It is in the footer of every page within the Employee Discount website.

Leave Request (Presagia)

Employees submit requests for leave of absence through this system.

User ID: Your eight-digit employee number
Initial Password: Last 4 digits of your SSN followed by the 4 digits of your year of birth (ex. 12341982)

Upon logging in, you will be required to create personal security questions, set your password, and update your contact information.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

MFA allows you to access Lawson Employee Portal from off campus.

Sutter Health has implemented an improved, secure solution to access Lawson Employee Portal when outside the Sutter Health and SMU networks.

The solution will require employees to register for additional verification to access Lawson Employee Portal remotely. A secondary verification code will be delivered via telephone (voice or text) to the user each time he or she logs in to Lawson Employee Portal.
