Institutional Research

The Office of Institutional Research and Evaluation provides objective, systematic, and thorough research and analysis in support of Samuel Merritt University's strategic and operational planning, policy formation, and decision-making activities. This office makes available detailed information to administrative officials, governing boards, and accreditation agencies.

The office is committed to ensuring the consistency and accuracy of information reporting. In addition, the office serves as a vehicle to foster the sharing and communication of data and information.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide accurate and timely information and analyses
  • Collect, disseminate, analyze, and promote the use of information for University planning, decision-making, and assessment at all levels
  • Provide internally consistent and accurate reports to federal, state, and accrediting agencies
  • Maintain a service orientation toward the University community and public at large
  • Support other units in conducting program evaluations, outcome studies, and other projects designed to improve the quality of services and programs
  • Serve as the official source for admissions, enrollment, graduate, and student success data reporting
