Student Success Measures

Student success and professional readiness across all programs at SMU are measured and tracked by a suite of robust indicators that allow trend analysis with most indicators analyzed at the disaggregated levels by race and ethnicity.

Success Measures

I. Professional Readiness

First-time licensure pass rates by program specialty
Employment rates in the profession within six and 12 months of graduation
Retention rates for first-year and all-time retention by program, campus, and demographics
Graduation rates within 100% of program length, 150% of program length, campus, and demographics
Program GPA by campus and demographics

II. Service to the Community

Participation in educationally purposeful community service and other co-curricular activities

III. Achievement, of Course, Program, and Institutional Learning Outcomes

Direct evidence and analysis of student learning outcomes are available in the Institutional Effectiveness Center on SMU’s Canvas learning-management system site. This site contains curricular maps, key assignments, assessment plans, teaching and learning assessment reports, and evidence of student learning.
