About Me
Mark Buan-Lagazo is an Assistant Professor for the College of Nursing. He graduated from the ABSN Program in 2020, and after gaining experiences in the Adult Blood & Marrow Transplant Unit at Stanford Health Care and the Pediatric/Pediatric Cardiac ICU at UC Davis Children's Hospital, he returned as an Adjunct Faculty and moved his way into full-time Annual Instructor, and now currently serves as a full-time Regular Assistant Professor.
He has a passion in research, education, and connecting academic concepts to real-life scenarios. At UC Davis Children's Hospital, he is involved in unit and hospital-wide education and training. He served as a Clinical Resource Nurse for the PICU/PCICU and as an Educator for the Children's Hospital.
Previous experiences include Accounting for the State of California with his other Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accountancy, from California State University, Sacramento. He also has retail and service experiences including Regal Entertainment Group, Costco Wholesale Pharmacy, and Apple, Inc.

Teaching Interests
Mark has interests in teaching Med Surg, Critical Care, and Pediatrics. He is also a Clinical Instructor for other Colleges of Nursing in the area.
Scholarly Interests
Mark is interested in research and evidence-based practice. He wants to improve quality measures within the facilities he works for and focus on healthier work environments.

Professional Affiliations & Memberships
Mark is an Ambassador for the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses since June 2024. His role is to promote AACN within the workplace in order to advance the profession of critical care nursing, stay up-to-date with AACN initiatives, and partner with local chapters to advance initiatives within the community.
He also serves on the Executive Board for the Philippine Nurses Association of America, California Capital City Chapter (PNAC3). He has been an Active Member and Executive Board Member since April 2022. His current and previous roles include Treasurer, Board of Director, Corresponding Secretary, and Recording Secretary.
Additionally, he is a Member of several organizations such as the American Association of California Nurse Leaders, Sacramento/Sierra Chapter (SSNL), SIGMA, and ANA
Community Service
Mark is involved in many community service events with PNAC3, including health and safety education forums or screenings at events like the Filipino Fiesta at Jose Rizal Community Center in Elk Grove that occurs annually in June or Churches throughout Sacramento. Other events include collaborations with other Nursing Organizations or Hospitals, such as the Cultural Excellence Grand Rounds events that occur at UC Davis Health.
