About Me
Tosca L. Wilson, DSW, LCSW is a clinical social worker, hospital administrator, and educator. She earned her Doctor of Social Work (DSW) from the University of Southern California (USC). Her dissertation explored intersectionality of gender, race, and mental health as it relates to receipt of services and substance abuse.
Dr. Wilson is an Assistant Professor in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at Samuel Merritt University (SMU), where she teaches clinical courses. Prior to working at SMU, she was guest lecturer at Sacramento State University in the school of social work. Dr. Wilson has also provided community-based training on the impacts of stress on health and well-being. Dr. Wilson is a seasoned social worker with a history of work in healthcare, government, non-profit, school-based and the department of defense. In doing so, she has provided support to persons struggling with severe and persistently mental illness, foster youth, pregnant and parenting youth, formerly incarcerated (youth and adult) and military personnel both nationally and internationally as far as Darmstadt, Germany.
Dr. Wilson is the proud mother of two adult children. When she is not visiting with them or traveling you will find her hiking or on her yoga mat.
Education
Dr. Wilson received her DSW from USC in 2023. She obtained both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from California Chico State University. MSW in 2010 and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1996.
Teaching Interests
Dr. Wilson enjoys every aspect of social work and teaching future MSWs.
