Daniel Doolan has spent decades teaching Medical-Surgical Nursing, Health Assessment, and other adult health prelicensure nursing courses. 

About Me

Daniel Doolan is a bay area native who has been a Registered Nurse for more than 2 1/2 decades and has spent over 20 years in nursing education.  He has taught students at the Associate, Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral levels, specializing in prelicensure nursing programs.  For the last several years, Daniel Doolan has directed the 2nd largest prelicensure nursing program in the State of California, SMU's ABSN Program!   He still periodically works shifts as a Med/Surg staff nurse at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital's Neurology (Medical-Surgical) Department.

Education

Daniel Doolan obtained his Associate Degree in Nursing from Santa Rosa Junior College; his Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Leadership & Case Management from Sonoma State University; & his PhD in Nursing from the University of California San Francisco.  He is a certified Public Health Nursing and Clinical Nurse Leader.  

Teaching Interests

Daniel Doolan has taught a wide array of nursing coursework at various levels of nursing education, specializing in adult health nursing prelicensure course content (especially Medical-Surgical Nursing).  

Scholarly Interests

Daniel Doolan has presented his research in a variety of peer reviewed journals and at local, national, and international conferences.  He has published both quantitative and qualitative research as the Primary Investigator.  His research background includes, but is not limited to, smoking cessation interventions (RCT) and qualitative  work relevant to the lived experience of former civilian prisoners of war.
